Where can I buy Biogena products?
You can buy our products in our online shop at www.biogena-uae.com. -
Where are Biogena products manufactured?
The majority of Biogena products are manufactured in our manufacturing facility in Austria, the rest in Germany and Switzerland. Whenever possible, we use raw materials derived from organic cultivation. The quality-tested raw materials come from the most reputable international suppliers. -
Do I need supplements if I eat a balanced and healthy diet?
It is true that a balanced and healthy diet supplies us with nearly all the micronutrients, vitamins and minerals we need. However, some people in special situations in life have a greater need for micronutrients, such as, for example, athletes, young people in growth phases, pregnant women, but also people who cannot eat some foods (intolerances) or do not want to do so (e.g. vegetarians). -
How can a micronutrient deficiency be detected?
Fatigue, lack of concentration and brittle and dull hair are often the first signs of a vitamin deficiency. An increased susceptibility to infections and constantly feeling cold should also ring alarm bells. A visit to your doctor should clear things up. A reliable method is the blood analysis from whole blood. -
Where does Biogena source the raw materials from?
The use of top-quality raw materials is a must for Biogena. We would never be able to manufacture high quality products from raw material of mediocre or dubious quality. We choose the ingredients exclusively according to criteria of quality and purity, sustainability and scientific documentation. We source our ingredients from certified suppliers from all over the world and they are available in top bioavailable forms. Biogena preparations that contain branded raw materials normally have the logo of the branded raw materials on their label. -
What should I look out for when buying supplements?
Use only products from reputable manufacturers. They manufacture according to high quality criteria and guarantee raw materials from safe production. High-quality products are also free of dyes and additives and have a good level of tolerability. -
Is it possible to overdose?
For many vitamins, it is not possible to overdose because the body naturally excretes the excess. The group of fat-soluble vitamins (vitamins A, D, E, K) is an exception. It is mandatory that the recommended dosage is being followed. Good manufacturers also provide extensive advice on their products. This minimizes the risk of overdosing. Consult your healthcare provider in case of uncertainty. -
May I open the capsule, if I have trouble swallowing it?
Biogena capsules are not designed for opening and directly swallowing the active ingredient powder they contain. If possible, you should – as intended – swallow the capsule as a whole. In exceptional cases, such as, for example, if you have trouble swallowing the capsule, our powder preparations can be opened by pulling the two halves of the capsule apart. The active ingredient powder can be stirred into water, still mineral water or herbal tea and should be consumed immediately. Since black tea, coke or fruit juices can inhibit the absorption of the active ingredient in the body, they are not suitable for mixing. However, it is not possible to open all the Biogena capsules. Enzyme preparations should never be opened, neither should be probiotics. In the case of iron-containing preparations, opening is also not recommended since it can lead to discoloration of the teeth. -
What should be considered when taking iron-containing supplements?
The following applies to all iron preparations: never take with milk or dairy products. You should also avoid taking them together with black or green tea because these can bind the iron and thus impair its absorption. Orange juice can increase iron absorption because of the vitamin C it contains. For all food supplements, the recommended dosage of the preparation should generally be complied with to avoid complications. -
What does “vegan” and “vegetarian” mean for Biogena?
Biogena defines products as “vegan” or “suitable for vegans” if they do not contain any raw material of animal origin. In addition, no ingredients of animal origin were used in production. Only the synthesis of micronutrients by bacteria or yeast cannot be excluded by this designation. Biogena defines products as “vegetarian” or “suitable for vegetarians” if they meet the definition of “vegan” but may in addition contain products from living animals (e.g. milk, poultry eggs, bee honey or sheep’s wool fat) or ingredients derived from these animal products. -
How do I attain the best results with lactobacteria?
Biogena offers lactobacteria in powder form (e.g. Junior Omni Bo® 6) and capsules (Omni Lactis® 10 Caps). To attain the best results with living bacteria, different recommendations for intake should be observed for powder and capsule products. In the case of the capsule product “Omni Lactis® 10 Caps”, we use cellulose capsules (DRcaps®) that dissolve only when they reach the intestine and that protect the bacteria from the acidic, germicidal pH-value in the stomach due to their special manufacture. Ideally, “Omni Lactis® 10 Caps” should be taken on an empty stomach, at best with water at room temperature. The powder product “Junior Omni Bo® 6” should be stirred into room-temperature water. After 10 to 15 minutes, during which the bacteria are activated and start multiplying, the mixture should be stirred and drunk immediately. Ideally, “Junior Omni Bo® 6” should be taken on an empty stomach in order to reduce contact time with stomach acid and this way improve the survival rate of microorganisms. -
What is meant by “before a meal”, what with “independently of meals”?
We use the following specifications on our labels, package inserts and product information: - on an empty stomach: Take the capsule 30 to 60 minutes before a meal or no sooner than 2 hours after a meal. - before a meal: Take the capsule approximately 30 minutes before a meal. - with a meal: We recommend taking the capsule when eating. - after a meal: This specification is imprecise and can mean different times. This is why in most package inserts there are precise time specifications (e.g. 1 hour after a meal).
