L-cysteine in stabilized form

N-acetyl-L-cysteine (NAC) is the stabilized form of the essential amino acid L-cysteine. In many life situations - e.g. in old age, in the growth phase or during physical activity - the body has an increased need for amino acids. NAC is rapidly absorbed in the intestine and almost completely absorbed. NAC produces L-cysteine again.

The amino acid is an important source of sulphur for our organism. L-cysteine is a building block of many proteins as well as of the peptide glutathione. This in turn is a component of the enzyme glutathione peroxidase, which catalyzes the degradation of oxidatively active hydrogen peroxide. Biogena NAC 600 contains easily absorbable N-acetyl-L-cysteine and is therefore suitable for daily supplementation.
